Rest & More Rest

Indulging in rest & comfort
Haven't been doing much these two days, just purely cooping up at home to splurge on mask and sleep;D I should be doing some shopping like what I told net but I'm seriously not a shopaholic and thus I would rather to just get some rest at home during the weekdays.
And by the way, the above picture is simply so idyllic isn't it? Apparently this European Brand called
Wildflower has got lots of English bedding designs;D I want such English feeling bedroom in the near future! hee
For the past 2 days, I've done 3 masks and it feels ooh-lala~ But sigh, women really age faster! Lately I have discovered that my complexion is not as good compared to the past *faint* Should have taken care of them much earlier and not taken for granted of my complexion.
Now that my eye cream have gone out in stock, wondering what I should get next. Poor me, my panda eyes have been with me since very young, how I wish some day they would just *poof* disappear. Nothing seems to have helped so I'm giving up on eye creams that swear that they would make my 'best pal' vanish soon. I just need a cream which moisturise the delicate under eye area and make sure they don't get 'old' so fast.
Apart from that, I've been studying too!
You see, everyone is doing something so I should do something too *chuckles*
First of all, I'm still trying to complete my studies on the Cookie Bible which is 500 pages thick and I've just renewed it last week. Hopefully I would be able to sieve out all those yummy recipes and zap them soon before the coming due date:P
Secondly, as a Geography Major, I should be equipped with some useful Geographical knowledge even upon graduation. Just last week, I was overjoyed when I managed to find out that the book written by Prof Savage & Prof Brenda is available in the NLB catalogue! *super happy* Have been always wanting to read it but never got the chance too since there was seriously enough academic readings each semester.
The book is called 'Toponymics' and it refers to the study of place names in Singapore!;) Don't want to bored you with more technical terms, but this books is really quite a fun read.
Just to share with you 2 streets name which I find particularly interesting.
So much we know about Caldecott Hill, the home to Mediacorp, their artists & all those local dramas... What exactly holds the significance behind its name?
*drum rolls*
Caldecott Hill is named after Sir Andrew Caldecott, a distinguished and highly regarded colonial administrator. He served as acting Governnor of the Straits Settlements and Colonial Secretary in the 1930s, and was later Governor of Hong Kong as well as Governor of Celyon. Andrew and Olive Roads in this area are named after Sir Andrew and his wife, Lady Olive.
Now have you wondered what exactly is Dhoby Ghaut?
*Mystery unveil*
Dhoby Ghaut is derived from the Indian words dhoby, means "laundry" and ghaut, meaning "the steps along the bank of the river". The name stems from the laundry activities that used to take place here from the 1830s onwards.
Indian dhobies (Bengali and Madrasi) used to wash their clothes using the water from Stamford Canal. The clothes were dried on empty land subsequently occupied by Ladies Lawn Tennis Club, now occupied by the triangular-shaped park opposite Cathay cinema. In the past, the whole area was associated with laundry activities.
So next time when you visit Dhoby Ghaut, try to imagine a laundry landscape!
Hope to be able to go down to Made With Love with elaine on the coming mon and let us reminisce the 19th Century's laundry activities at DG!
