Mid Week Bliss

Sweet Mid-Week Treat

After a fruitless interview, I was more glad and happy to be able to meet Button Bear at VivoCity (yes again...) to redeem our GV Gold Class Tickets which expires on this Friday. After some enquires last week, we were told that the movie schedule would usually be available after 7pm on Wednesday and thus we had to make our trip down to Vivo else the tickets would get sold out again.

Since I was early and had some time to spare, once again, I hopped in CK Tangs to admire the tap design salt dispenser (see earlier post):P The atmosphere there on a weekday evening was really COLD. There were just about 2-3 shoppers including myself and you can even spot groups of 4-5 sales assistants (mind you, there were really groups of them) crowd around themselves to chit-chat.

It felt a little intimidating as all eyes seemed to be on me when I was the only shopper at a point in time. This was especially so when I started to whip out my N73 to snap some pictures of what I like in the shop. I think they must thinking if I some secret shopper from other rival departmental stores and went there to check out their wares..haha:P

Despite that, I just kept my cool, slowly and steadily took a few pictures. At the same time, thoughts just went through my mind thinking why can't I be just some erm... some lady who need to do research on what to get for her new apartment?

Some other stuff I got really gaga over:

1. Pink Fruit Press

2. English Rose Tea Cup

3. Blue "Coffee, Tea? Or Me?" Mug

4. Bodum Pavina Double Wall Thermal Glass Collection

The image “http://www.bodumusa.com/shop/images_products/big/Web_PictLarge_10604-10.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Some thoughts...

In my opinion, item no. 1 has no practical value but it's really pretty:P Maybe it would be nice having it in the kitchen but apart from that, I don't think it works efficiently as a fruit presser. On the other hand, item 2 & 3 comes in much more handy for me and BB;D I've been looking for a nice looking cup since last December and BB also needs one @ work so these two were shortlisted as must-buy!

Item 4 is one of the most interesting stuff I have ever seen! I was quite surprise how light these glass wares were and the thin layer of glass they were made of. What's more, all of them have this special design of double wall! Apparently, these blown glass wares claim to provide prolonged thermal retention (both hot & cold) and this double wall design has won some Red Dot Design of the year 2005. Definitely intricate enough to keep me in bewilderment for a long time:P

Before long, BB came along and he was totally in love with item 3 (and I knew he love it)! After touring a little more in Tangs, admiring the salt & pepper dispenser & Mayer's mixer, we made our purchase and got out of the "tense" atmosphere (I still believe they think I'm a secret shopper! haha).

BB is getting gaga over coin-slots machines these days especially those $1.00 mini Feng Shui elements and so we went back to Toy'R'Us to try our luck. I was luckily enough to collect a full set of Ratatouille's collectibles, thanks to the uncle who allowed us to choose what we wanted since we had already slotted lots of coins but couldn't get what we want;D

On our way to GV, some eye candy caught our eyes!

Corduroy Cafe has opened its own candy shop which just looks fabulously gorgeous! It is so eye catching with all the pretty colors waving to you and asking you to visit them ASAP. Shall visit it very soon eventhough I'm more of a chocolate than candy person:)

Btw, Corduroy Cafe - milkbar. bakery is a very very nice chilled out place on a weekday afternoon when there's little crowd. The music & ambience is perfect for lazing out over a nice milkshake or smoothie. I hope to go there again before my 'freedom' is tied down with a full time job commitment.

***
So the journey continues...

To our dismay, GV is really slow... At 7.50pm, the schedule has yet to be released and we were told to go back again in an hour's time. So we decided to just had our dinner at Olive & Fig which is located next to Page One. Been there for the third time and we still think the food is way better as compared to Mussels Guys (<-warning: don't every go there!!)

Looking Delightful with our new cups

Pink Happy Daze Smoothie

BBQ Chicken Pasta

Cheese Dory Fish with Chips

Finally~!
We SUCCESSFULLY redeemed our Gold Class Voucher!

So this Friday, we will be going movies to catch Ratatouille!
and Saturday, our date at Esplanade to learn Argentine Tango!

Exciting Exciting!
Can't wait for the weekend to come!

Bourne Ultimatum

Ratatouille

Rush Hour 3

Secret

License to Wed

The Home Song Stories

I Now Pronounce You as Chuck & Larry

I know it's pretty absurd to catch every movies in the cinema with the crazy price of movie tickets now but why do all movies release in the Aug/Sept???

*Faint*

Looks like I've got to be really selective and sieve out all those that worth my $9.50! The rest will have to wait till their DVD release in the later months:)

To compensate for the lost in catching these movies in time, maybe I shall also whip up some nice food during year-end DVD marathon! Here's something to look forward to!;D

Delightful Weekend (2)

Bright and Cherry!

Needless to say, the journey continue to set out for a wonder eye cream for my panda eyes!:) Finally got to CK TANGS level 2 after winding through so much other places! *giggle*

Look what I've got!!!

"Oh-so-pretty!" ;D

Don't ask me why I got so excited over this tap like salt dispenser.. haha:P I just found the design so smart, cool and pretty! U know, at least when we have got a pair of oily hands, this dispenser still works!

Here's another view from the top.. hee:) I think the aunties working there must be thinking this girl so sua-gu but I was really fascinated:P

"I want I want!!!"
Maybe can buy it first and then stock up for future??

Then, I got distracted yet by another oh-so-Gorgeous electronic standing mixer!

This mixer is by Mayer and it's so pretty for the kitchen! The actual color is much lighter than in the picture and there are several more other nice colors too!:) But it cost a whopping $899.00!! Forget it, I just need a plain one which can yield me nice fluffy bakes:P

Finally and really finally... we finally reach level 1 beauty hall!

The first station we visit was Laneige! My Laneige makeup remover is also running dry so it's time to replenish stock as well :) Have been wanting to try out their water bank series since quite a while ago but it's really expensive but this time, I decide to splurge!

Within 15 minutes, I settled for the designer eye cream in the water bank collection, the super good make up remover & also a pore trouble hydro gel:)

The last item in the list was to chalk up enough credit for Laneige membership!

You know, I've been eying on their membership since a long time ago but I tend to purchase item by item since they are so EX! Thus, I never got the chance to sign up for their membership and I'm on cloud-nine to be able to get it this time;D

The sales girl was really nice too and gave me more skincare and cosmetic samples on top of the complimentary gift set with every spending of $120. *really very happy!*

My purchases at Laneige was fully sponsored by BB as my upcoming 22nd birthday prezzie! Very practical and useful 因为我非常爱美! hee;D

Presenting the Laneige Collection

(From L:) Pore Trouble Hydro Gel, Makeup Remover, Designer Eye Cream & sample products

Reviews

Have since started using most of them and still, I'm very satisfied with their products!

1. Makeup remover ($28, 100ml)

This remover is super good in removing very stubborn waterproof mascara and it has a very high cleaning efficiency. Since I've started using it a year ago, it has been my favorite Laneige product! Pair it with Shiseido's square cotton pad for best results :)

Rating: 5/5

2. Designer Eye Cream ($56, 30ml)

The designer eye cream is quite nice to use, very easy to blend with concealer to give a nice smooth finish. It has a non-oily formula which is good for people like me who have the tendency to develop 'oil seeds' at under eye area.

Been using for a few days now and I think it's so much better than my previous bottle of 'All about Eyes' from Clinique which have caused my under eye area to be very bumpy and blemish-liked. Also, my eye area feels more hydrated and seems like my bumps are slightly more pacified now and have started to sink a bit:)

Very satisfied with this purchase and for once, it seems like I've gotten something suitable for my eyes;D

Rating: 4.5/5

3. Pore Trouble Hydro Gel ($54, 50ml)

This gel claims to minimise pores and for me, it has been so far so good:) It seems that after I smear a small layer of this on my troubled areas and go for a a good night sleep, the pores have shrink a little when I examine my face in the morning. Good for a start!

Rating: to be advised.

4. Water Sleeping Pack Plus (sample)

This leave-on sleeping mask has received rave reviews around the world and I'm simply so glad to finally get hold of it this time:)

This is a lazy women's solution and I think after using it twice, I found my skin more supple the following morning. Best to use with a combination of other masks such those wash-off or sheet types. I'm using it together with a assorted mixture of masks from Skin Food, Beauty Credit, Garnier and Neutrogena:)

Rating: 4/5

"Ooh-lala~ Viola!

Now I have gotten some perfect solutions for my face in the meantime!

***
After doing all the needed shopping, we heading for dinner at the Kopitiam in basement1. The fish slices beehoon is super delicious! It's a prominent store with a lot of newspaper cutting and with just $5.30 we got a large fish slices steamboat which serves 1-2 person:) Also, the Western food stall also whipped up relatively nice grills which I think tasted better than those stalls in Food Republic which are overrated.

A Delightful Weekend!
Nice tea, great catch, pretty shoes, laneige & delicious dinner!

*emo no more!*

Delightful Weekend (1)

Weekend Indulgence

The weekend has been really incredible! I was so busy buzzing around places & procrastinated on blogging;D

First, it was the last of Colgate Roadshow which was over at Bukit Panjang Plaza. I was pretty lucky since it's really near my place and there wasn't a lot of crowd except on Saturday morning which apparently I think was the advertisements which attracted so much people.

It's a pity that I didn't get to see the 1-2 sec of advert with me being featured among my colleagues with the not so famous artist :P

The food selection at BPP is great! On Friday, we were so super free that we went for break in pairs and even queue for Missy Donuts;D Despite that, I still have my qualms....

Apart from being a really cannot make it shopping mall, which has virtually nothing to shop, BPP is also living GREENHOUSE (hell to people like me)!

OMG! it's so super the hot when the sun pierce through the glass roof and shine brightly on the whole roadshow area. I had to strategically positioned myself to refrain from being overly exposed to the sunlight especially my cheekbone area which have developed pigmentations since last year.

I was so tempted to just take out my UV protected umbrella and start singing Rihana's Umbrella song since I had lots of practice of it especially the chorus part which goes like "under my umbrella, ella, ella, a, A, a, A, aA...."

But unfortunately, I was promoting Colgate Sensitive toothpaste & toothbrush and not Umbrella:P

Still can't believe why these architects are so !@#@!#@#$% to build a glass roof at a mall.

They probably need some geographers to educate them on GREENHOUSE EFFECT and also dermatologists to tell them that UV rays are bad for Asian women who are prone to producing excessive melanin when exposed to excessive sunlight.

Saturday was so HOT and I got really EMO with the bad weather and insufficient sleep the night before.

On the brighter side, Saturday afternoon Vivocity Outing with Button Bear was really a indulgence and like always, he managed to pull me out of my emo ^.^

The initial idea was to go and redeem our GV Gold Class ticket voucher for movie passes to Bourne Ultimatum over the weekend but it was fully booked so we just settled for some shopping and tea + dinner @ Vivo :P

Being so disappointed with GV, BB & I decided to get a bite from Secret Recipe!

In Malaysia, Secret Recipe's cake are super duper unbelievable CHEAP! My sis and I gotten 2 big slices of cakes for just S$4.50 during our KL trip in June. Here, $4.50 will only land us 1 slice of cake. And if you have ever seen their super thick slices of cakes, it taste heavenly and it only cost S$30 for a huge 2.2kg cake!!! as compared to Singapore where you have to pay $55 for a whole cake.

I have been telling BB so much on their Blueberry cheesecake since I came back from KL but we had yet to try it once here. So this time, we finally decided to satisfy our crave for their nice cheesecake with a cup of cappuccino;D

*yummy yummy!* We were so eager to savor the cake that I didn't even take any photos of it:P We probably gorged down the cake in 10mins? hee.. it's really nice!

Then, we randomly shopped around Vivo with the main intention to buy my eye cream which has run dry earlier in the week;D

On our way, we dropped by Toy'R'Us to check out on those coin slots machines and to our delight, there's some new collection of toys collectibles! So we changed $20 into 1 dollar coins & started our crazy turning!

Here's my catch!

(From left): Zipper pouch, Slipper key chain & Draw string pouch!

These are really kawaii!!! There is always lots of anticipation and anxiety as to what we will get after slotting coins into these machines. But deciding on which machines to part with our coins would have killed quite a bit of brain cells since we might not get what we really wanted:)

After satisfying yet another crave/craze of ours, we decided to head towards CK Tangs to check out those beauty counters for eye cream. But before long, we landed in Charles & Keith to check out the pair of stunning ballet flats which caught our attention when we passed by the display window.

Apparently, C&K was having sale and the whole shop literally turned into a women's war zone. There were flying shoes and endless stack of boxes lying around corners of the shop, simply chaotic. Those sales assistants are really cool, they managed to handle so much orders and bring out all the shoes without mistakes.

Finally, I managed to get the pair of ballet flats and it's so pretty!;D

Have been condemning C&K for a very long while and I think my last pair of shoes from them were more than one and a half years ago. The particular pair of shoes was those Birkenstock alike sandals which gave me so much painful blisters! I heartlessly chucked them after wearing less than 5 times as it's simply a KILLER!

So this time, I'm really happy to be able to find a nice pair of flats from them after many many months of search for a pair of flats:)

I'm Super Satisfied!
Nice tea, good catch & pretty shoes x)

*grinning very happily*

Rest & More Rest

Indulging in rest & comfort

Haven't been doing much these two days, just purely cooping up at home to splurge on mask and sleep;D I should be doing some shopping like what I told net but I'm seriously not a shopaholic and thus I would rather to just get some rest at home during the weekdays.

And by the way, the above picture is simply so idyllic isn't it? Apparently this European Brand called Wildflower has got lots of English bedding designs;D I want such English feeling bedroom in the near future! hee

For the past 2 days, I've done 3 masks and it feels ooh-lala~ But sigh, women really age faster! Lately I have discovered that my complexion is not as good compared to the past *faint* Should have taken care of them much earlier and not taken for granted of my complexion.

Now that my eye cream have gone out in stock, wondering what I should get next. Poor me, my panda eyes have been with me since very young, how I wish some day they would just *poof* disappear. Nothing seems to have helped so I'm giving up on eye creams that swear that they would make my 'best pal' vanish soon. I just need a cream which moisturise the delicate under eye area and make sure they don't get 'old' so fast.

Apart from that, I've been studying too!
You see, everyone is doing something so I should do something too *chuckles*

First of all, I'm still trying to complete my studies on the Cookie Bible which is 500 pages thick and I've just renewed it last week. Hopefully I would be able to sieve out all those yummy recipes and zap them soon before the coming due date:P

Secondly, as a Geography Major, I should be equipped with some useful Geographical knowledge even upon graduation. Just last week, I was overjoyed when I managed to find out that the book written by Prof Savage & Prof Brenda is available in the NLB catalogue! *super happy* Have been always wanting to read it but never got the chance too since there was seriously enough academic readings each semester.

The book is called 'Toponymics' and it refers to the study of place names in Singapore!;) Don't want to bored you with more technical terms, but this books is really quite a fun read.

Just to share with you 2 streets name which I find particularly interesting.

So much we know about Caldecott Hill, the home to Mediacorp, their artists & all those local dramas... What exactly holds the significance behind its name?

*drum rolls*

Caldecott Hill is named after Sir Andrew Caldecott, a distinguished and highly regarded colonial administrator. He served as acting Governnor of the Straits Settlements and Colonial Secretary in the 1930s, and was later Governor of Hong Kong as well as Governor of Celyon. Andrew and Olive Roads in this area are named after Sir Andrew and his wife, Lady Olive.

Now have you wondered what exactly is Dhoby Ghaut?
*Mystery unveil*

Dhoby Ghaut is derived from the Indian words dhoby, means "laundry" and ghaut, meaning "the steps along the bank of the river". The name stems from the laundry activities that used to take place here from the 1830s onwards.

Indian dhobies (Bengali and Madrasi) used to wash their clothes using the water from Stamford Canal. The clothes were dried on empty land subsequently occupied by Ladies Lawn Tennis Club, now occupied by the triangular-shaped park opposite Cathay cinema. In the past, the whole area was associated with laundry activities.

So next time when you visit Dhoby Ghaut, try to imagine a laundry landscape!

Hope to be able to go down to Made With Love with elaine on the coming mon and let us reminisce the 19th Century's laundry activities at DG!

Reflections

Reflections...

When was the last time I screamed and shouted madly at someone?
I can't remember and I'm sure I haven't done this for a long long time.

Yesterday, I lost my cool.

I screamed at him so madly that I wondered where all these energy came from...
He pushed my button and this is not the first time.

SEE GEE NA! Spoiled Brat.
He broken my record track of screaming at someone so madly in a fist of anger.

First he locked me out from him house, then he hid in some corner of his parents room and behaved so rudely to his weak and frail grandmother in front of me.

I was courteous enough to called him earlier to ask him if we could have tuition slightly earlier and I even promised him that if we start early, we could end our lesson earlier.

Yet he dared to lock me out of the house when I needed to visit the washroom quite urgently?!?!

If all was not enough, this is not the first time. He had locked me out for 20 minutes just a month ago. Then, I have warned him not to play this kind of stupid nonsense again, if he dares to, he would get it from it. I said to myself, he would REALLY get it from me if he dares to do it again.

So HE GOTTEN ME this time.
I shouted fiercely at him for his impudent behavior toward his grandmother and threatened to leave his place since he doesn't want any tuition.

I didn't know I could be so angered by someone and I guess that was my limit.

Felt quite giddy myself for getting so heated up, not to mention his grandmother who suffers from high blood pressure. She just recovered from a week of illness after getting so angry over all his nonsenses. Poor thing, she even said she felt like she was collapsing after a heated argument with the spoiled brat weeks ago.

Hello?! 12 years old is not longer a kid!
Can't he used his puny brain to THINK???

Before my lesson, I gotten it straight with him.

If he doesn't want tuition, fine we shall not have any tuition anymore. Even if he needs to get a new tutor, that is his own problem since he has only got 6 weeks to PSLE while I can take my rest. I do not need to earn these fees since I could always find other students who need more help than him. Further more, it's just 6 more weeks! How much more could I earn anyway?

Also, I warned him that I was there to teach him and not to discipline him so he better behave himself since he is no longer a 5 years old. Anyway, I reckon a 5 years old could be more well-behaved than him.

Lastly, I asked him to reflect what type of attitude his has towards his ailing grandmother. He was so rude that I needed to come forth to scream at him as I couldn't stand the sight of his arrogant behavior.

I'm quite sure I've make him felt really ashamed of his behavior. I even told him he could be charged in the juvenile court and he's old enough to know what is right and wrong. At the most basic, we are adult and he's just a kid, he should show respect to us so what right does he have to behave so rudely to us?

I think, he would never believe I can get so fierce and thus he tested my limits.
Now he sees it.

"老虎不发威, 当它是病猫"
How true...

For the rest of the lesson, he did not do anymore things to annoy me and I did my best to go through the mathematics revision guide to prepare him for the preliminary paper today. Also, he apologised to his grandmother and I was pretty glad he did that. As promised, I went off 15 minutes earlier so that he could rest early too.

As a reminder, I told him not to be rude to his grandmother again since she's already very weak and how long more do he expect her to be around. Think he should go watch 'The way home' and reflect more on his behavior.

Shortly after I left their place, his mother called to check why I left earlier as she thought he could have made me quite mad. So, I told her the whole story and she was quite glad I told him off.

Anyway, his parents are usually back home late in the night and I doubt they discipline him since he is their one and only precious spoiled brat son.

Now, I realise the importance of having a 9-5 job. At least, there's more time at home to educate the kids.

What a dramatic evening and I'm still reflecting if shouting at him was the best option at the moment.

Being an educator is not an easy feat.

I wanna...

"If I can, I want to be on the top of the world, enjoying all those I like!"

I really wanna....

i) watch FloorPlay!!

Dans Festival brings back some nice sizzling dance sensations to the Esplanade Theaters! One of those which I think is a must-watch is this Latin & Ballroom dance theater show called FloorPlay.

A quote from Straits Time Life, 16 August 2007:

"With a name that plays on the word foreplay, one would naturally expect the dance extravaganza to be sex on rhubma-ing legs. And more than it delivers, with sexy dancers who are between 20 and 30 years old and who are all former dance champions."

Sigh~ Missed Burn the Floor last year & this year will miss FloorPlay again.

Reason being, Button Bear and I have already splurged $230 for our tickets to Swan Lake on Ice and $20 for the Argentine Tango class in conjunction to Da:ns Festival; enough of splurging for my upcoming birthday >.<

Today's Horoscope also say...

Virgo:
Your eyes might be bigger than your pocketbook, so do whatever it takes to restrain yourself from impulse shopping. That could involve a trusted friend or trained guard dogs, it need be -so make it happens.

Hmmm... I think need a Green Tourmaline to prevent me from any further draining of wealth but it itself would have cost me a whopping $260! *lol* haha. What an irony?!?!

This sizzling hot dance sensation would definitely arouse all those dance cells in you! So do catch it if you have the $ and really in love with latin & ballroom (like me!) hee;D

FloorPlay is on the Esplanade Theatre from Aug 28 to Sept 2. Tickets range from $69 to $140, available from Sistic.

ii) watch Singapore Fireworks Festival!

(with less crowds & absence of RUDE UGLY SINGAPOREAN)

SFF is always a special date for us, it marked our first date;D Couples who need some sparks can try watching fireworks shows this weekend at Marina Area:P

Last year, we had a really unpleasant encounter with a rude middle age guy who think that he owns all the space at the Esplanade Bridge by putting lots of STEWPID 'empty' tripods and i really mean a LOT (at least 5 of those big tripods which took up a LOT of SPACE!). I could have just kicked one of them into the water below if he provoked us further then:P

Till today, I still have a little phobia over this kind of unpleasant incident since it ruined the happy date of ours last year. I just pray that this year, everything will be well and just let us get a nice view of the fireworks without any tom, dick & harry to ruin our mood;D Also, praying hard that BB will book out in time to go for the Spain's performance on Friday night.

After all, we just need a small little space.... It would be better if all of us can go into some sort of floating bubble (like in cartoon) and everyone just mind your own bubble plus we have more space compare to standing on the ground!:P haha.

Pray that it all goes well!
iii) shop @ FashBash!!

"Bazaar! Bazaar!"

All those Arts Bazaars over the last three years have gotten me a bit crazy on these kind of flea market concept shopping:P

Used to go all around the school to check out great bargains until last year where all those stores become quite stagnant and goods they sell are nothing except Acrombie and more Acrombies! Furthermore the Arts canteen was pulled down so our favorite flea market turned into a make-shift Ramly Burgers Pasar Malam.

Some of those local bazaars which I know of are 'Red Dot Maad', 'This & That' and FashBash!

The last Fash Bash was in April and I remembered I did not make it down due to school work or exams related reasons. This time, I'm not gonna miss it despite I have Colagte Roadshow @ Toa Payoh Hub;D Shall devise a fastest route to make it there on either of the days.

Those local designers at these bazaars are really talented. Looking at their works is itself a pleasure however owning some of which may really burn a hole in your pocket. Hope to find some cheap and unique steals this coming weekend!;D

That's all for now.. Guess would not to able to update over this weekend with my endless tuitions and also the Colgate Roadshow;D

Till then, an advanced TGIF!
